Viber has become a homegrown name in Nepalese households for messaging. The app has been immensely popular over the years due to its free calls. It was one of the first messaging apps to provide both text and free call service over the internet in the context of Nepal. There are over 10 million Viber users in Nepal.

This messaging app provides all the messaging services such as texting, voice messages, voice/video calls, etc. On top of that, it also consists of additional features such as Viber Lenses, Viber Notes, Channels, etc. It has over 1 Billion downloads on Google Playstore with 4.5 stars rating.

WhatsApp Messenger is also a very popular messaging app in Nepal. The Meta-owned messaging platform has been popular since the Symbian OS era of Nokia. It has all chat and messaging features like texting, voice/video calls, files, media sharing, etc. The app’s use in Nepal for official purposes is also significant. It was first a texting app and added a voice call to service in 2015.
