Xiaomi & Samsung have just launched Mi 11 Lite 5G NE & Galaxy M52 5G respectively in the Nepalese market. Offering similar specs, both devices can go neck to neck against each other with similar pricing in the upper midrange segment. From having the same Snapdragon 778G, AMOLED displays, 64MP camera to 5G connectivity, let’s see how this comparison goes.
Display & Build Quality
Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE & Samsung Galaxy M52 5G both feature AMOLED displays. The display size on Xiaomi 11 Lite is 6.55″ whereas, M52 5G boasts a larger 6.7″. Xiaomi has got a 1080p 10-bit HDR display that can deliver 1B colors & Dolby Vision. Samsung has placed typically bright AMOLED with no 10-bit support. The brightness can go up to 800 nits on Xiaomi.
Both phones have the same FHD+ resolution. The PPI for Xiaomi is 402 whereas for Samsung it is 393 due to the larger display size. M52 5G excels with a 120Hz refresh rate than 11 Lite 5G NE’s 90Hz. Samsung is typically known for quality AMOLED display but here, Xiaomi has the edge with 240Hz touch sampling, HDR 10 support & Dolby Vision.
Xiaomi caters to a lighter and slimmer design with just 6.88 mm thickness & 158 grams. The M52 5G is 7.4mm thick and weighs 173 grams. The 11 Lite 5G NE has a glass back too as opposed to the plastic back of the M52 5G. The front side is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 for both devices. The visual aesthetics look much better on Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G.
Performance & UI Comparison
Coming with the same chipset Snapdragon 778G 5G, performance would be similar in both of these phones. Snapdragon 778G 5G is based on 6nm architecture ensuring efficiency on battery & providing great performance for upper mid-range phones.
However, the true performance differs on the UI of the phone too. Xiaomi boasts MIUI 12.5 UI with Android 11 & Samsung comes with One UI 3.1 on top of Android 11. MIUI is a feature-rich UI with loads of useful features. It also provides many customization options to play with. But in recent times, it is not a fan favorite due to not consistent performance of the UI. Slight UI lags & bugs can be seen due to the heavy nature of MIUI skin. Optimization is also not that good. Meanwhile, Samsung has come up a long way with improvements on its One UI. One UI seems well optimized & ensures better UI performance than Xiaomi’s MIUI.

One of the prominent selling points for phones is their camera. In this segment, both Xiaomi & Samsung have brought a triple camera setup. Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE sports 64MP main camera, 8MP Ultra-wide & 5MP Macro camera. Whereas, Samsung Galaxy M52 5G consists 64MP main camera setup, a 12MP Ultra-wide & a 5 MP Macro lens. Both phones lack OIS and rely on EIS for stabilization. They both can shoot 4k but only up to 30fps. For 1080p videos, Xiaomi takes the lead with support for 60fps and 120fps for slo-mo videos by the main camera. Also, it is capable of doing super slo-mo 960fps under 720p resolution. Samsung should have opted for 1080p 60fps at least in this price range. According to the specs, Xiaomi sounds to be a better deal for the video section.
On the front camera side, Samsung offers a higher resolution 32MP selfie camera as compared to Xiaomi’s 20MP camera. Samsung M52 5G can however only shoot at 1080p 30fps. Here, Xiaomi sounds a better deal for videos as it can shoot 30/60/120 fps from the front camera as well.
