Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro Overview

Design/Display

As for the design, the smartphone series is very similar to the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro phones. They arrive with the glass sandwich design and Leica branding on the rear camera. The phones also sport a centered punch-hole curved display. They come in gorgeous color finishes namely Gray, White, Purple, and Green.

Xiaomi 12S flaunts a 6.28 inches Full HD+ AMOLED Display panel, a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, and an 1100 nits peak brightness. Whereas Xiaomi 12S Pro features a larger 6.73-inch QHD+ LTPO 2.0 AMOLED display along with 1440 x 3200 pixels & 1500 nits brightness. Both devices support up to a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision support, an in-display fingerprint scanner, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection, and more. 

Camera 

As for the optical department of smartphones, the brand has partnered with Leica to enhance the photography experience. Both the Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro sport a triple camera setup at the rear. Xiaomi 12S is led by a 50 MP Sony IMX707 Primary camera along with a 13 MP ultra-wide camera and a 5 MP telemacro camera. Whereas the latter Xiaomi 12S Pro consists of a 50 MP Sony IMX707 main camera, a 50 MP ultrawide angle lens with a FOV of 115 degrees, and a 50 MP telephoto camera. While on the front, both smartphones house a 32 MP selfie camera to snap beautiful selfies and videos.

Now coming to the videography of the smartphone, the rear records videos up to 8K@24fps, 4K@30/60fps, 1080p@30/120/240/960fps, 720p@1920fps, and the front camera is capable of recording videos up to 1080p@30/60fps, 720p@120fps. The phone also arrives with attractive camera features.

Performance

Turning our attention to the performance of the device, the Xiaomi 12S, and 12S Pro comes equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 Processor. They will be the 1st smartphones to arrive with this chipset. It is an octa-core chipset based on a 4 nm processing technology that comes with a maximum clock speed of 3.19 GHz. As for the graphics, it is handled by the Adreno 730 GPU. The chipset offers a 10 percent boost in performance and reduces power usage by 30 percent. In terms of memory configuration, it is coupled with 8/12GB LPDDR5 RAM and offers up to 512GB UFS 3.1 internal storage onboard. 

On the software front, Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro run on MIUI 13 based on Android 12 OS. 

Battery And Others

Talking about the battery prowess of the phones, Xiaomi 12S gets its juices from the massive non-removable Li-Po 4,500mAh battery. Whereas Xiaomi 12S Pro is fueled by a 4,600mah battery. As for the fast charging technology, Xiaomi 12S supports 65W fast charging, and the 12S Pro supports faster 120W fast charging technology. Both smartphones come with 50W fast wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging support.
