Oppo has targeted both the devices for Generation Z that is youths, with the focus on camera and Social media performance. Both the devices look identical except for the specs like camera resolution and RAM, storage option.
Oppo A9 2020 and A5 2020
Both the phones are 6.5 inches LCD screen phone with a screen resolution of 1,600×720 and a screen to body ratio of 89%. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3+, having better hardness and resistance. The full view screen can be visible even in direct sunlight and the blue light protecting eye-sight, relieving eye fatigueness.
Snapdragon 665 Soc: the 64-bit Octa-core processor powers the devices, which according to Oppo enables to deliver powerful performance. The same processor also powers Xiaomi’s Mi A3 and Realme 5. The phones have a Game boost 2.0 accelerator technology for improved Frame boost and Touch boost, both provides Smooth gaming experience. Frame boost resolves latency and any lag in the phone while touch boost improves the touchscreen sensitivity.
The phones run on Color OS 6.0 over Android 9 and provide Smart Assistant, Riding Mode, Music Party and Gesture Navigation which improve user convenience, safety and the phone’s overall versatility. As per Oppo, the OS provides a fresh visual experience that’s more sleek, refined and comfortable even after prolonged use.
Camera
Regarding the camera, both the phones have a quad camera setup in the rear. Oppo A9 2020 sports 48 main sensor + 8MP Ultra-Wide Lens + 2MP Mono Lens + 2MP Portrait Lens. But Oppo A5 2020 has a quad-camera setup with 12 MP main sensor while all other cameras remaining the same. The different cameras are there for several photography angles and purpose from Wide-angle to portrait. The phones have ultra night mode and different portrait styles.
Ultra Night Mode 2.0 ensures efficient noise reduction, while HDR and Multi-Frame Technology provide users with night scene pictures that exceed the brightness and detail that the human eye can perceive.
Talking about the selfie camera, A9 2020 comes with 16 MP while A5 2020 has 8MP only. Both the phone’s front camera has AI beautification mode to make you look digitally beautiful.
Battery and Sound
The massive battery size of 5000 mAH can make the phones last for more than 19 hours of continuous operation. The phones support Dual stereo speakers together with the Dolby Atmos for better immersive sound experience for multimedia and gaming.
Both the devices are dual SIM capable while the third slot is for the micro SD card to expand the storage up to 256 GB. The phones are quite un-appealing to know that they support the micro USB connection. Similarly, they do not support the 4G LTE band that Nepal Telecom will use for an upcoming network. Price and Availability in Nepal
Although both the phones are released, their availability has a minimum Gap. Oppo A5 2020 is available in all major retail across Nepal. Earlier the price of Oppo A5 2020 was NPR 27,990 for 4GB + 128 GB variant. Whereas the price of Oppo A9 2020 in Nepal was NPR 35,990 for 8 GB + 128 GB variant.
Now after the price drop with the Oppo winter offer, A5 2020 4GB comes at Rs 25490 whereas A9 2020 4G comes at Rs 33,590. With this price, Oppo A5(2020) is also one of the best smartphones under Rs. 30,000 in Nepal.
The number of mid-range phones with quad rear cameras are increasing here in Nepal. Huawei Nova 5T having the same USP has a little higher price but with a high-end processor. If you want to have a quad-camera setup at a reasonable price, then Oppo A9 2020 or Oppo A5 2020 might suit you well. But if the quad-camera is no big deal for you, you can go for Redmi Note 7 Pro, Samsung M30s at a similar price point.
