The new sub-brand of Xiaomi has launched its first phone in India. The sub-brand POCO has formed just a month ago with the motive to create performing handsets at competitive pricing. The Poco X2 is a new phone from the Poco-X series that has focused on the design, build quality as well as cameras, unlike Poco F1. Additionally, Poco has focused on making the prices more affordable compared to the original F1 prices back in 2018.
Poco X2 Overview
Poco India has especially targeted Poco X2 to the mobile gamers with its Reality Flow 120Hz Display and gaming centered Snapdragon 730G SoC. Besides the improved refresh rate display, the smartphone comes with a dual selfie camera which looks almost similar to that of Samsung Galaxy S10 Pluses.
The X2 also carries a 64MP quad rear camera setup and very fast 27W fast charging support for its large 4,500mAh battery. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 panel shields the 3D curved back design which looks beautiful. The Poco X2 is actually a rebranded version of Redmi K30, from another Xiaomi sub-brand device.
Display and Design
The new Poco X2 features a 6.67-inch full-HD+ display with a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels. Interestingly, there is a 120Hz RealityFlow Display with the aspect of 20:9. We haven’t seen this sort of display in most flagship phones either and here comes in the budget phone. This is an appreciable job from Poco. The LCD display panel used on the phone comes with an “Intelligent Dynamic Refresh Rate” technology that is said to dynamically alter the refresh rate to provide enhanced results.
Talking about the design, the phone looks beautiful aesthetically. There is a glass body with the Gorilla Glass v5 protection on either side. Interestingly, there is a power button that doubles as a fingerprint sensor on the right. The phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack, IR blaster and a type C port.
Chipset and OS
Poco X2 is powered by one of the best mid-range chip-sets. Power-efficient and performing octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC, paired with Adreno 618 GPU takes the phone to the next level. To level up the performance, there is support for up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. The addition of second-generation Game Turbo mode to boost graphics rendering made the phone more gaming-centric.
Moreover, the smartphone also has an exclusive Liquid Cooling technology. As said, the technology provides 300% efficient heat transfer over the phones that don’t incorporate a liquid cooling system. In terms of OS, the Poco X2 runs on MIUI 11 based on Android 10 accompanying Poco launcher on top. The handest is already operating on Android 10 out-of-the-box.
Camera
As far as cameras are concerned, the Poco X2 has the quad rear camera setup that houses a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 primary sensor. The f/1.89 aperture primary lens is accompanied by an 8-megapixel secondary sensor with an f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle lens of 102-degree FOV. There are a 2-megapixel tertiary macro and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. For the selfies, there is a dual selfie camera setup at the front with a punch hole that looks almost similar to that of Galaxy S10 Plus. The dual camera consists of a 20-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor.
There are multiple camera features like VLOG mode, 960fps Slow-mo video recording, and 4K video capture for the rear camera setup. The selfie camera setup, on the other hand, supports a Panorama Selfie Mode, AI Face Distortion Correction, AI Beautify, AI Portrait Mode and others.
Battery and Connectivity
The Poco X2 packs a hefty 4,500mAh battery that supports fast charging of 27W. The best part is, you are getting the 27W charger in the box. Poco claims that the charger charges the phone from 0-100% charge in 68 minutes.
For the Connectivity, the phone comes equipped with 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C, and the best thing is 3.5mm headphone jack.
The excess features of the Poco X2 include an IR Blaster, P2i water-repellent coating, VoWiFi, and Hi-Res Sound.
