Samsung Galaxy A51 is World’s Best Selling Android Smartphone in Q1 2020

The global chart for the Top Android smartphone models in Q1 2020 is out. It is very clear that there has been a fair competition between these android phones. So, without wasting any more time, here is all you have to know about it.

With over 60 lakh units sold in the global platform, Samsung A51 was the world’s highest-selling Android smartphone in the first quarter of the calendar year 2020. With that Xiaomi’s previously mostly sold smartphone Redmi holds the second spot. The data comes from the latest report of Strategy Analytics.

Not just that, Samsung not only holds the number one spot but also has not just one or two but four smartphones in the top six list. With that onboard, Xiaomi claims the other two spots on the top 6 list.

Now, in a detailed scenario, Samsung Galaxy A51 detains a 2.3 percent share of the overall smartphone market, while ruling the charts in the first quarter. Whereas, Redmi 8 claimed 1.9 percent of the market share while obtaining the second position.

Not so surprisingly, Samsung yet again maintained the third spot with its Galaxy S20+ phone with 1.7 percent share. Respectively, the fourth, fifth, and sixth positions were deemed by Samsung Galaxy A10s, Redmi Note 8, and Samsung Galaxy A20s with 1.6 percent market shares for fourth and fifth positions and 1.4% for the sixth position.

Effects and Reasons:

Now, with that being said, the Covid-19 crisis has had a very virulent effect on the market share of the smartphone as the customers are approaching more price-sensitive option in the post-corona virus era. And this is totally understandable since the lockdown situation has ultimately affected the overall economy in a global case scenario.

Moreover, consumers are likely to look for Android smartphones that will provide value for money. So, we can understand why “Android is entering a post-premium era”.

Juha Winter, the Associate Director at Strategy Analytics recently stated that since mobile operators have reduced subsidies in the progressing years, many countries are now plummeting into post-virus recession. So, as a result, that smartphone consumers globally are becoming price-sensitive and they are seeking out new Android models that deliver the biggest bang for their buck.
