Vivo has been attracting young consumers to buy its phone for a long time now and they are still following this marketing statics till now, with the launch of Y30 on July 7, 2020, in Nepal, it gets proven. That modern hole-punch design and sleek 3D design in Y30 is surely going lure many consumers. Y30 promises to give you all the modern specification in a price range that straightly competes against the likes of Galaxy M21 and Redmi Note 9. Vivo Y30 price in Nepal is set at Rs. 24,999 for 4GB/64GB variant and Rs. 27,999 for 4GB/128GB variant. Let’s dive in and know more about this latest device from Vivo.
Vivo Y30 Display and Design
At first glance, we can clearly see around hole-punch at the top left side of the 6.47-inch IPS LCD HD+ display which Vivo calls as an iView Display. This magnificent display is so pleasing while looking at it and so is it’s visual and projection of colors which are really vibrant, contrasted, and well saturated. It’s like a visual feast and to add more in this display, the company has customized many apps to work seamlessly with the display and also has Glass protection to avoid the display from getting scratches and dents.
The Y30 design is really elegant, sleek, modern, and refined and looks very detailed. This level of grace is yet enhanced by the delicate 3D curves that have been designed by the company that vanishes into the sleek lines of the side panels. We can see a dedicated power button and volume rockers at the right edge whereas a 3.5mm headphone jack, Type-C reversible connector, and a single firing speaker grill at the bottom edge.
The quad rear camera is fitted inside a rectangular module located at the top left side of the rear panel of the phone and right below it at the bottom left, we can see the company labeling. The rear panel is really glossy and shiny which one of the company’s trademarks.

AI Quad Camera
The camera is one of the main aspects which can decide the hit and flop result of the smartphone nowadays and Vivo knows it very well which has inspired them to put up a Quad camera setup at the rear and an 8MP selfie shooter at the front confined at the hole-punch. As for the Quad camera, the setup comes with the inclusion of 13MP main sensor, 8MP Super Wide-Angle sensor, 2MP Super-Macro sensor, and 2MP Bokeh sensor in which the company has announced that it produces pro-standard masterpiece images. Both front and rear camera setup can record videos in 1080p at 30fps.
Anyhow, 13MP main sensor and recording capability of just 1080p at 30fps feels really low because its competitors are offering 48MP main sensor or even 64MP main sensor in their phones. I wonder how this phone will compete with other smartphone competitors in the same price range in terms of camera performance. That’s a big how.

Performance, Software, and Storage
Vivo Y30 comes with the inclusion of Mediatek Helio P35 chipset, Octa-core processor, PowerVR GE8320 as GPU all supported by 4GB RAM which runs on the latest Android 10 on top of the skin with Funtouch 10.0 UI. Helio P35 really sounds like a weak processor in this price range but the addition of Vivo Process Guardian technology into its Multi-Turbo 3.0 and Ultra Game Mode may help the phone in delivering better gaming experience. The online gameplay and other normal gameplay should be smooth in this combination of hardware and software.
As for storage, Vivo Y30 comes in two variants which are 64GB variant and 128GB variant. This much space should be enough for keeping photos, videos, documents, and music to process anytime anywhere.

Mammoth 5000mAh Battery and Connectivity
The Y30 packs a mammoth 5000mAh battery with support to 5W reverse charging but yet no fast charging. 5W reverse charging instead of Fast charging, that feels like icecream with no kind of chocolate toppings or another delicious topping. But the company claims that this massive battery can power the phone to deliver 9 hours of online gameplay and 137 hours of local music playback, which still sounds nothing important whilst ditching of Fast charging.
For connectivity, the Y30 has 3.5mm headphone jack, Mono speaker, USB On-The-Go, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector, USB 2.0, and Bluetooth 5.0.

For the price, the main camera sensor along with the chipset, and absence of Fast charging support feels really demotivating to me. Choosing flashy design instead of a good specification doesn’t sound good to me.
