3 candidates has been recommended to fulfill the vacant post of Nepal Telecom (Ntc) MD (Managing Director). Under the leadership of Baikuntha Aryal, the MoCIT Secretary, the responsible committee finalized 3 candidates to become Ntc’s next MD.
The three candidates are Mr. Sunil Poudel, Mrs. Sangita Pahadi, and Mr. Buddhi Acharya.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers will now select one candidate to lead the government-backed operator. The decision could arrive today (April 7th) as cabinet meeting is underway.
Ntc has been in search of its new leadership for months after former MD Dilliram Adhikari’s tenure came to an end on January 6th. To fill up the vacant post, the company published a vacancy that received backlash as former employees filed a writ at the Supreme Court. In response, the Court gave an interim order that held up the quest for a while. But recently, the Court dismissed the writ. After that verdict, Ntc had its path clear to appoint its new MD.
Initially, the operator had 9 candidates vying for the post. The committee under MoCIT has now shortlisted 3 among them. The government will soon make a decision on who leads the telco.
