Nepal Telecom (NTC) has undertaken an initiative to establish its 4G broadband network at community schools in Simkot and Namkha, Humla. As part of the project, the telco has handed over necessary telecom equipment to the schools for high-speed mobile broadband.
The initiative is part of Ntc’s rural telecom program.
Under this, the telco will help a total of 30 schools get a high-speed 4th-generation mobile network in both rural municipalities. Both lie in the northern remote district of Humla.
Dharmaraj Neupane, the Administrative Officer of Namkha Rural Municipality shared that 17 community schools will benefit from the program. He informed that the schools have received the necessary hardware used to set up a 4G broadband network.
This will help schools access fast mobile internet and run their school works more efficiently. Mr. Neupane said that Ntc provided the equipment first to the municipality and then it provided them to the schools.

Electricity is an issue for Ntc 4G in schools in both rural municipalities
But not all the schools lying in the remote village of Namkha, Humla have a power system. So, the schools having an electricity facility will immediately deploy the 4G equipment, and those without will first arrange for a solar system to set up their 4G network.
Likewise, the same rural telecom project comprises 13 schools getting a 4G system in Simkot Rural Municipality. There too, the telco has transferred the necessary tools and equipment for the advanced cellular network. Unlike in Namkha, most schools in Simkot have access to the power system. Gorkhapatra writes that the schools in Simkot will begin installation within days with the help of technicians.
