Redmi Note Series Sales Hit 320 Million Units
During the Redmi Note 12 Turbo launch event on Tuesday, March 28, Xiaomi shared that the global sales of the Redmi Note Series surpassed 320 million units. The Chinese smartphone OEM said that Redmi Note 11 was one of the top 10 best-selling smartphones globally in 2022.
Canalys report highlighted that 18 million units of Redmi Note 11 were sold in 2022. The device went toe-to-toe with Apple’s flagship lineups iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
On the flip side, the sales data doesn’t translate positively for the brand’s overall shipments. Xiaomi sold over 40 million Redmi Note devices in just 5 months of 2021.
The decline in overall sales figures might have to do with the smartphone market saturation. There are many brands shipping phones in similar price ranges making it a difficult choice for smartphone consumers. Xiaomi also sells its phones under various sub-subsidiaries such as Redmi, Mijia, and POCO plays into confusing buyers. And economic downturn of recent years has also not encouraged the market as owners are hanging on to their devices longer.
Redmi Note 11 launched in 2022 has been one of the most popular 5G smartphones in Nepal too. Xiaomi has now launched its successor Redmi Note 12 which will arrive soon in Nepal.
