Apple’s iPhones have completely dominated the global mobile phone shipment chart in Q1, 2023 in the flagship segment. As per the latest Canalys report, 4 iPhone models claimed the top four positions while pushing Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra to the fifth. IPhone 14 Pro Max, as it seems is the most popular phone around the world at the moment. The list includes phones which cost $500 and above.
As per the report, the flagship shipment grew 4.7% YoY outperforming the overall smartphone market, which actually declined 13.3% on an annual basis.
Launched in late 2022, the iPhone 14 series secured the top three positions. The iPhone 14 Pro Max ruled atop, followed by its sibling iPhone 14 Pro, and the base variant iPhone 14. iPhone 13 from 2021 was the fourth top-selling smartphone during the period.

As per the chart, iPhone 14 Pro Max outperformed the Pro model by a large margin in the global flagship phones shipment chart. The Pro and base variant had a minor difference in shipment volume. What’s interesting is that the one-year-old iPhone 13 came out more popular than the latest iPhone 14 Plus model.
That’s not all though. Even older iPhone 12 and iPhone SE (third-gen) also found their spots in the best-selling flagship smartphones in the first quarter of 2023. In total, Apple ruled the chart with 7 different models in the list. The arch-competitor Samsung had six devices. After Galaxy S23 Ultra at fifth, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, Galaxy Z Flip 4, S22, and S21 FE 5G followed on the list as the highest-selling premium devices around the world in the first three months of 2023.
Apart from Apple and Samsung, Xiaomi’s Xiaomi 13 and Huawei’s Mate 50 were on the list of top-selling flagship devices. Google, OPPO, and Vivo were notable misses on the list.
In Nepal, iPhone 14 Pro Max cost starts at Rs NPR 198,890 while iPhone 14 Pro starts at Rs. 180,190. Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra price starts at Rs. 191,999.
