Huawei has launched the world’s first tri-foldable phone Mate XT (aka Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design, Huawei Mate XT Extraordinary Master). The Chinese tech giant introduced the innovative gadget just a day after Apple launched its new iPhone 16 series. Here, you can find out the expected price of the Huawei Mate XT price in Nepal, and its major specifications.
“Today we bring you a product that everyone can think of but could not make. Our team has been working hard for five years and has never given up,” Huawei executive director Richard Yu said at the launch.
Upbeat as he should be, Yu further added, “Today we will once again rewrite the history of the industry, turn science fiction into reality, and lead a new era of folding devices.”
Huawei Mate XT Overview
Design and display
The Huawei Mate XT rocks a bold design rocks a large design and by that, it’s really large stretching 156.7 x 219 x 3.6-4.8 mm when unfolded and 156.7 x 73.5 x 12.8 mm folded. But still, it’s not really heavy at 298 grams. The back has a squircle octagon shape that houses a beautiful camera island. There are three cameras inside but more on that later. The phone folds three ways and while it’s all spread out, it looks like a broadsheet in an excellent way.
In terms of the display, the phone carries a primary 10.2-inch display. Likewise, the cover display stretches 6.4-inch and the dual display features another big 7.9-inch display. All the displays are backed by LTPO OLED technology and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Performance
The world’s first-ever three-fold phone is powered by Kirin 9010 5G chipset which is developed on advanced 7nm N+2 technology by SMIC. The chipset supports 5G connectivity which is another indication of the Chinese company’s growing self-reliance and progress in chip evolution.
.
The juggernaut of the device comes with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB of internal storage. The phone runs on HarmonyOS 4.2 software. The phone also supports satellite calling and messaging services backed by the BeiDou navigation satellite system (BDS).
The phone has already received 4 million pre-orders. To put this into perspective, the entire foldable phone market was just about 4 million in second quarter in 2024. The phone’s just been a huge hit right after the launch!
Camera
The stunning camera island houses three cameras – a 50 MP wide camera with OIS support, a 12 MP telephoto with 5.5x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultrawide. The phone has an 8 MP selfie camera on the front.
The humongous phone comes with a 5600mAh battery and supports 66W wired, 50W wireless, 7.5W reverse wireless, and 5W reverse wired charging. The phone connects to WiFi 6 meaning that it misses out on the WiFi 7 support. However, it has 5G compatibility for extremely fast data connection.

But there is no official confirmation of Huawei Mate XT Ultimate launches in China. So far, the device has profoundly drawn attention for its historic design and took off some allure from Apple’s latest iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models. We will update you when there is news about its international launch.
Our initial verdict
Intriguing enough or maybe not much, Huawei launched the Mate XT Ultimate after Apple drew the limelight with its new iPhone. The strategy is understandable but besides the competition, what Huawei has done is a remarkable innovation. The Mate XT Ultimate folds three times and sports a stunning design. The device is pleasingly aesthetic in design and the way it looks. The pioneer foldable phone dwarfs Samsung Galaxy Z fold in many aspects. Minus Android availability, as it works on its own OS: HarmonyOS.
Plus, 16 GB of RAM, and the camera system should make it a fresh and innovative experience for buyers. The phone though doesn’t connect to WiFi 7 but there are enough connectivity options.
