Ncell Axiata has launched 4G mobile network in a remote district of Jumla in Western Nepal. The telco says that the expansion of its advanced cellular network is part of its commitment to ensure modern mobile broadband to all customers.
Ncell has installed BTS cell towers in Chandhannath Municipality, Rural Municipality, and Tatopani Rural Municipality of the district. Likewise, the residents in the district headquarters of Khanalga already have access to broadband and voice services. The company has brought its cellular service replacing V-SAT technology which offered only basic mobile services.
Ncell has been consistently launching fourth-generation connectivity in various remote regions. Now, with the current 4G expansion in Chandannath Municipality, Tila Rural Municipality, and Tatopani Municipality, Ncell’s 4G network has reached coverage of 91.39% across Nepal. Setting up new base stations last fiscal year ensured 4G access to a wider population countrywide.

Ncell grows 4G expansion across Nepal
Ncell debuted 4G in Kathmandu in 2017 enabling customers to access high-speed mobile connectivity. In FY 2022/23 alone, the private telco set up 338 new sites in different parts of the country. At the same time, 4G capacity was upgraded in around 1,450 towers in over 60 districts.
4G offers higher bandwidth, lower latency, and improves spectrum efficiency. As a result, customers can apply high-speed capacity to use more applications, stream large files and media, and deliver time-sensitive data faster. The “truest mobile broadband” network empowers the ICT industry, technopreneurs, media, and other industries to stir the economy on a high-growth trajectory.
Ncell currently operates over 4,000 4G BTS sites around Nepal ensuring high-speed mobile internet. Additionally, Ncell has also launched VoLTE (Voice over Long Term Evolution) to provide HD voice.
Ncell says that 4G expansion and enhancing the network leads to achieving the aspirations of the Digital Nepal Framework of the government by promoting access to mobile broadband service.
