Nepal Telecom (NTC) has submitted funds to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund to help the government with rehabilitation efforts of the flood landslide victims that resulted following heavy rains from Bhadra 10 to 12, 2081.
The contribution is part of NTC’s corporate social responsibility initiatives. Earlier, the national telecommunication provider also provided free voice, SMS, and SIM for people in Jajarkot who suffered from an earthquake in November 2023. This year, millions of Nepalese were directly and indirectly affected by continuous rain and the subsequent floods and landslides. NT, fulfilling its CSR responsibility, has extended its help to people in Kathmandu and across various people who suffered from the rain and other natural causes.
Besides NT, private telco Ncell also offered daily essential needs to the flood and landslide victims in Godavari, Lalitpur Metropolitan City. It’s great to see that despite being commercial enterprises, these large communication companies share the same spirit of support for the community. Speaking of which, Ncell has invited applications for 19 community projects.
Additionally, both companies cooperate with the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology to send alerts to ease rescue efforts during floods.
