Google has launched the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones, the next-generation iteration in its Pixel series lineup. The two siblings come with a familiar design profile and some hardware improvements. The company launched its flagship lineup globally and also in India, for the first time in years.
Both phones come with the latest Android 13 OS out of the box and have new color options. The Pixel devices are for those who prefer the purest Android experience and are loyal fans of the device. If you want other premium handsets with a custom skin on top, you can also opt for iPhone 14 Pro Max or Samsung S22 Ultra, which are the competitors for Google’s Pixel series this year.
Let’s explore all the specs of the Google Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones including their price.
Display
Both Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro feature almost similar display attributes to their predecessors. Pixel 7 comes with a 6.3-inch AMOLED FHD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. It has IP68 protection against water and dust. The Gorilla Glass Victus should protect it from minor scratches.
The senior sibling Pixel 7 Pro also resembles a more or less similar profile. It gets a larger 6.7-inch screen with AMOLED QHD technology and a 120Hz LTPO panel. The specs should give decent viewing aesthetics, but it’s underwhelming if you were expecting more posh configuration.
Processor
Under the hood, both Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are powered by Google’s powerful second-generation Tensor 2 which is a CPU of 4nm architecture. It is one of the key improvements this year’s Pixels have got. The chipset is not yet mainstream, but Google is packing its phones with its home-grown SoC so it is well optimized and delivers a better phone experience.
Camera
The camera segment offers few improvements on Pixel 7. It gets an upgraded 12 MP ultrawide camera with a 50 MP main camera. The selfie shooters get a 10.8 MP front camera and video calls. The rear camera is capable of shooting 4K video at 60fps. The one on the front can record 4K video at 30fps.
While the basic vanilla version possesses a few updates, the Pixel 7 Pro has all the bells and whistles. The premium variant has both cameras capable of 4K video recording at 60fps. Plus, the 12 MP ultrawide lens features autofocus and macro focus. The 48 MP telephoto lens is upgraded with a 5x optical zoom and 30x Super Resolution zoom. Photogenic will be impressed with how much Google has invested in the Pro lineup this year.
RAM and Storage
Both phones come with similar storage options. They start at 128GB ROM and reach a maximum of 256 GB. Just like last year’s Pixel 6, the Pixel 7 standard variant comes with 8 GB RAM while the Pro model gets 12 GB. Together with a premium CPU, and large RAM, multitasking should be a breeze on either phone.
Battery
Google will reportedly pack the Pixel 7 model with a 4,335mAh battery under the hood. It comes with 15W fast charging. The number is not huge but it depends on how well-optimized the phone is to ensure great battery efficiency. But we are still counting on an easy day of use with moderate to heavy use.
The Pro model is expected to come with a 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging support. Google has not officially revealed much about batteries, so we are just speculating.
However, the company claims the Pixel 7 series will offer up to 72 hours of battery life. The phones come with Extreme Battery Saver mode, an equivalent of a similar feature on other brands that should keep the juice on the phones for long use in an emergency.

Other features
The Pixel 7 series includes an under-display fingerprint sensor and face unlock for security. The Android 13 OS powering both phones will get 5 years of security updates. Among other noticeable features is Photo Unblur which employs machine learning to improve blurry images. The Magic Eraser meanwhile lets users fine-tune images improving them from blurry graphics. You also get 5G compatibility with both of these phones and for WiFi, there is support for advanced WiFi 6e technology, which is the immediate predecessor to the yet-to-be-finalized WiFi 7.
Similarly, both phones support eSIM as the Pixel series is one of the first phones to support the digital SIM technology, which is also available in Nepal. As known, the Pixel 6 has encountered some issues with Nepal Telecom’s eSIM which we hope to be solved for the Pixel 7 series.
