Realme has launched its new mid-range smartphone Realme 8i in Nepal. The brand had promised to bring more products with appropriate pricing in Nepal, with its reentry. The phone includes a 120Hz display, Helio G96 SoC, 5000 mAH battery, and up to 7GB dynamic RAM. This makes it the cheapest 120Hz display phone in Nepal. Realme 8i Overview
Realme 8i is the successor to last year’s Realme 7i that was launched in Nepal. The smartphone boasts a large 6.6-inch FHD+ display, 120Hz refresh rate, 50 MP Triple cameras, Helio G96 SoC, massive 5000mAh Battery, etc.
Design & Display
Starting off with the design, Realme 8i comes with a beautiful and stylish design. It has a polycarbonate back with a glossy finish. The phone has a glass front, a plastic frame, and a plastic back. The smartphone has relatively thin bezels on all sides except on the chin. The power button is also in a very comfortable position. It measures 164.1 x 75.5 x 8.5 mm in dimensions and weighs only 194 gm. There is also a punch-hole cutout at the front that houses a selfie camera.
Realme 8i features a large 6.6 inches Full HD+ IPS LCD display along with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The device also comes with a 20:9 aspect ratio, 90.8% screen-to-body ratio, 180Hz touch sampling rate, 401 PPI density, 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut, 600 nits peak screen brightness, etc. Realme 8i has 6-level fresh rates such as 30Hz, 48Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz. The device is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. As for biometrics, the phone features a Side-mounted Fingerprint Scanner and face unlock.
Camera
Turning our attention to the cameras, Realme 8i sports a triple rear camera setup with a squarish camera module. It consists of a 50 MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture, a 2 MP macro sensor f/2.4 aperture, and a 2 MP B&W lens with f/2.4 aperture.
On the front, the smartphone houses a 16MP In-display Selfie camera with f/2.05 aperture and a 5P lens. Talking about the videography aspect, both the rear and front cameras record videos up to 1080p@30fps. The smartphone comes with camera features such as Ultra Steady Video, Night Mode, Panoramic view, Expert, Timelapse, Portrait Mode, HDR, Ultra macro, AI Scene Recognition, AI Beauty, Filter, Chroma Boost, Slow Motion, etc.
Realme 8i Performance
Under the hood, Realme 8i rocks the MediaTek Helio G96 Processor. It is an octa-core processor based on a 12 nm manufacturing process that comes with 2 Arm Cortex-A76 clocked at 2.05 GHz, and 6 Arm Cortex-A55 clocked at 2.0GHz. As for graphics, it has Mali-G57 MC2 onboard. In terms of memory configuration, it is paired with 4GB/6GB LPDDR4X RAM and comes with 64 GB / 128 GB of UFS 2.1 storage onboard.
There’s also Realme’s Dynamic RAM expansion (DRE) technology that virtually adds up to 7GB of RAM. It means that the Realme 8i can run much smoother, making your daily entertainment extremely smooth. Sadly the 4/64GB variant does not support the virtual RAM expansion. You also get a memory expansion option of up to 1TB via a dedicated microSD card slot. On the software front, the Realme 8i runs on Realme UI 2.0 based Android 11 OS. It is the first device in the world to house this chipset.
Battery and Connectivity
Talking about the battery prowess of the smartphone, Realme 8i packs a monstrous 5,000mAh (Typ) battery. The device also supports 18W charging through USB-C. As per the brand’s claim, it lasts up to 28 days in standby mode, offers up to up to 40 hours of music playback, 47 hours of Talktime, and up to 11 hours of YouTube streaming on a full charge. It also has a super power-saving mode. It means even if your battery is 10% down, you get Standby of 35.2 hours, up to 2.4 hours of the call, 1.3 hours of online chat, and 2 hours of music.
As for the connectivity options of the Realme 8i, it includes Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, hotspot, Bluetooth 5.1, A2DP, LE, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BDS, FM radio, NFC, USB Type-C 2.0, USB On-The-Go, loudspeaker, a 3.5mm headphone jack, etc.
