Xiaomi has launched its entry-level smartphone Redmi A3 in Nepal. The device is suited to those who aren’t eager to cough up the bulk of cash and can do away with the good things, smartphones offer- sensors, video chats, maps, some basic gaming, etc. Not to mention it’s a 4G LTE device so you should get great broadband speed wherever 4G is available. The device is now available in Nepal so here we have the official price along with its major specifications.

Overview
Redmi A3 is an entry-level smartphone manufactured by Xiaomi. The device comes with fairly decent specs for its range. For e.g., the device’s glass is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It boasts a large screen, MediaTek Helio G36 chipset, and offers up to 6/128 GB RAM and internal storage. But perhaps its USP is its design. The device sits close to the Redmi 13C in price and capabilities.
Xiaomi smartphones are exceptionally popular in Nepal and the brand is running hot with its latest lineups from the Redmi Note 13 series including the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G. Here though, we have more details on the upcoming Redmi 3A below.
Design and display
Starting off with its design, the Redmi A3 smartphone boasts a glass back, and its frames are made of plastic. The front is a 6.71-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution; 720 x 1650 pixels that is. Still, the device maintains a good 82.9% real estate. Likewise, Xiaomi has given it a 90Hz refresh rate which is pretty basic but given that even devices such as the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus 5G with up to 144 Hz refresh rate, offer less for regular use, it’s not a letdown. The screen gets protection from the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which is great considering it’s a budget phone.
As mentioned above, the eye-catching aspect of this device is its rear design which the company calls a “Premium Halo Design”. Notably, Xiaomi has sported a circular camera module that mimics some of the iconic designs of current-day smartphone models- the OnePlus 12 for example. There are volume and power buttons on the devices’ left. The power button also serves as a fingerprint scanner. The front has a selfie camera in the center.
Camera
The smartphone features two cameras on the back. The main sensor is an 8 MP shooter accompanied by a 0.08 MP auxiliary lens. Xiaomi has equipped the dual camera with some AI features but there are no bells and whistles to expect. The photography supports HDR and has a dual-LED flash. It can record 1080p videos at 30fps. Likewise, on the front is a basic 5 MP camera for selfie photos and videos. Just like the rear camera, it can record full HD videos at 30 fps.
Chipset, RAM, and storage
Redmi 3A has a MediaTek Helio G36 chipset under the hood. This 12mn build silicon has 8 cores with 4 performing at 2.2 GHz and the other 4 at 1.6 GHz. The processor is paired with PowerVR GE8320 GPU to handle graphic works.
As for RAM and storage, the device has been launched in two variants for Nepal- 3/64 GB and 4/128 GB. Xiaomi has not offered a 256 GB variant and that’s understandable. It has to do with the pricing. But still, you have an option to expand the storage to the massive 1 TB with a microSD card. Don’t forget that it’s a dedicated slot. The storage only supports the previous generation eMMC 5.1. The model supports Android 14 out of the box which is a good value as it’s the latest Android OS currently.

Battery
One of the better aspects of this device is its battery. The device packs a 5,000mAh non-removable battery unit. This should easily last you a day. The HD+ resolution and 268 ppi density also play into higher battery efficiency. Xiaomi has also added a fast-charging taste to its potential buyers with a 10W fast charger.
Connectivity
Redmi A3 is a 4G LTE device (with band 20 support) so its cellular connectivity is limited to 4G. But it’s backward compatible too so it allows you to connect with 3G and 2G as well. For WiFi, the device supports up to WiFi 5. In strictly technical phrasing, the smartphone supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac. There is no NFC in this entry-level phone but you will get USB Type-C 2.0 and a 3.5mm jack for a wired audio connection.
