Samsung Galaxy A53 5G vs Samsung Galaxy A33 5G
Display and Design
Design-wise, both siblings are sharing the same design from their predecessors (A52S 5G and A32) with minor improvements. The build quality is not so prevailing as the back is still made of plastic. On the front side, Gorilla Glass 5 protection is given for protection against scratches. Both devices come with an IP67 rating and hybrid SIM/Micro-SD slot. The volume rockers and power keys are placed at the same position on both smartphones.
The alight difference appears on the front side, Samsung Galaxy A53 5G offers a 6.5″ AMOLED panel as compared to the 6.4″ AMOLED panel on the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G. Concerning the resolution, it is the same Full HD+ one. The PPI is 405 and 411 respectively. Whereas, the refresh rate is 120Hz for the A53 5G and 90Hz for the A33 5G. There is a punch-hole cutout on the Galaxy A53 5G while the Galaxy A33 5G retains a teardrop notch display. Besides that, both are quality AMOLED panels from the veteran, Samsung itself.
Samsung Galaxy A53 5G vs Samsung Galaxy A33 5G Camera
In the optics department, both phones have a quad camera setup. The resolution differs on the primary sensor, ultrawide, and depth sensors though. Samsung A53 5G sports a 64MP shooter with OIS. While Samsung A33 5G flaunts a 48MP sensor that too with OIS. Also, the ultrawide camera is a higher 12MP one on Galaxy A53 5G as compared to 8MP one on the latter. The macro lenses are the same as 5MP whereas the depth measuring sensors are 5MP and 2 MP respectively.
For the front camera, the resolution gets 2.5 times higher with 32MP on the Galaxy A53 5G while there is a 13MP front camera on the Galaxy A33 5G. So, the 32MP selfie camera also has HDR for videos while the 13MP one lacks it. There shouldn’t be a drastic difference in picture outputs for the back cameras. Still, the Galaxy A53 5G would win with higher picture quality and better low light pictures due to a larger sensor. Things go the same for the ultrawide cameras, considering the resolutions. For videos, both phones can capture up to 4K 30fps.
Exynos 1280 5G and One UI 4.1
Interestingly, Samsung hasn’t cut corners with the chipset on the cheaper A33 5G. Both devices get the same homegrown Samsung’s Exynos 1280 5G chipset. Also, they run on the same One UI 4.1 skin on top of Android 12. The performance should be more or less the same on both devices. The fluidity of the screen would be better on the A53 5G due to the 120Hz refresh rate. Rest apart, having the same chipset and OS, both phones will offer a mutual level of performance without a doubt.

Verdict
The sibling phones share most of the specs with the same design language. With the chipset being the same, the difference appears in the camera resolution and refresh rate. Samsung Galaxy A53 5G will excel in camera performance with better 64MP primary and 12 MP ultrawide shooters. That doesn’t mean, the Galaxy A33 5G will perform badly. As said earlier, the difference shouldn’t be huge during daylight shots. The price is cheaper and it doesn’t considerably compromise on features. You still get a capable setup of optics and AMOLED display. Also, both have OIS for the primary cameras. IP67 is also present on both smartphones.
If the budget is tight, Galaxy A33 5G is also a liable choice. You still get a capable setup of optics and AMOLED display here. The chipset and OS are the same and should cater to similar experiences on both. Well if you are willing to spend higher for better front and back cameras with a punch-hole display, it is good to go for the Galaxy A53 5G too. Similarly, if you prefer more premium and higher specs, you can check out Samsung A73 5G.
