The phone’s display stretches a compact 6.67-inch with AMOLED technology. The screen gets a 120 Hz refresh rate and has an HBM brightness of 1,200 nits. For the screen resolution, vivo has sensibly kept it at FHD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels) which provides vivid and bright viewing while also being good on the battery.
It’s got IP64 certification for dust and splash protection which safeguards it from environmental hazards and potential cases in everyday usage. Traditionally, vivo phones are usually best known for their stunning and innovative design and that’s also the case with this phone.
Performance
The phone is powered by Snapdragon 685 which is built in a 6nm process making it a good chipset to smoothly handle daily operations. The SoC comes in a 4+4 core architecture comprising 4 cores at 2.8 GHz and another 4 at 1.9 GHz speed. In Nepal, the phone comes in an 8/256 GB variant which offers a smooth smartphone experience and storage.
On the software front, the phone ships with Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14 and is eligible for the upcoming Android 15 system.
Camera
On the back, the phone houses a vertically aligned “cushion-cut dual-camera setup. The main camera is a 50 MP wide shooter and the other is a 2 MP bokeh camera. Excitingly enough, vivo is generous in providing a 32 MP selfie camera on the front. Both cameras can record videos at 1080p@30fps. The camera specs help to cut the cost down as its senior and pricier model v40 5G comes with 50 MP cameras and Zeiss optics.
Further, complementing the photography on vivo v40 Lite is the AI-powered Aura Light Portrait technology which helps take pictures in low-light conditions. The aura light illuminates the night adjusting color temperature, harmonizing facial tones with the surroundings in challenging lighting conditions to allow for richly detailed and normal photos. The similar-looking color ring is also seen on vivo Y19s which could also come to Nepal soon.
Besides, the phone comes with an array of exciting AI-driven photography tools such as AI Erase and AI Photo Enhancement to ensure that the photos taken remain the best as intended and even better.
Battery and Connectivity
The phone comes with a respectable 5,000mAh battery which vivo says can attain 4 years of health and can be charged from 0-80% in 30 minutes. Likewise, there’s also support for a brilliant 80W fast-charging support. It’s great that Android phone makers have started to explicitly mention battery health and growingly focusing on their longevity.
The handset connects to a 4G network, and dual-band WiFi 5 for faster broadband connectivity. It also has USB Type-C 2.0, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and other standard smartphone features.

Our Verdict
vivo v40 Lite 4G is a budget premium phone and is complemented by its lovely combination of specs. The company has emphasized the phone’s premium look and durability. Specifically, I liked that the phone’s battery is durable for at least 4 years which is a tremendous attribute for users who want to use the same phone for quite some years. Another highlight of it is 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of native storage giving users plenty of space flr storing photos and videos while also keeping the device smooth.
The phone competes with the likes of Honor X9a, OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G, etc. At the same time, you can look for other options in our list of top phones under Rs 40,000 in Nepal. But maybe the lack of 5G compatibility be felt by the buyers at this price.
