Xiaomi has launched the Pad 7 tablet in China alongside the Xiaomi 15 Series while also announcing an all-new HyperOS 2 custom Android skin. The new-generation tablet now succeeds Pad 6 and comes with a 3.2K display and other incremental upgrades such as a larger screen, RAM, improved fast charging, etc. Xiaomi also launched the Pad 7 Pro on the same occasion, however, here, we mainly focus on Pad 7, its specifications, possible launch date and price in Nepal, and how it compares with its predecessor and its Pro variant.
Xiaomi Pad 7 Specifications
Design and Display
Xiaomi Pad 7 doesn’t differ much from the predecessor Pad 6, however, the body bears some changes. For e.g., Pad 7 weighs 500 grams which makes it 10 grams heavier than Pad 6. Its height has decreased to 251.2 mm but its width has stretched further from 165.2 mm to 173.4 mm but it’s gone slimmer at 6.2 mm. In terms of material, it shares the same aluminum frame and back with the front composed of glass.
Additionally, the display is also larger now at 11.2-inch IPS LCD and uses a solid 3.2K resolution of 2136 x 3200 pixels. Likewise, it shares a similar 144 Hz refresh rate but the brightness now reaches 800 nits from 550 nits in Pad 6. It’s also worth noting that the tablet shares similar display features with Pad 7 Pro. To put it in perspective, Pad 7’s display features are rightly on par with those found on the top tablets available in Nepal currently.

Performance
The tablet runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 fabricated on TSMC’s 4nm nanometer process. It features 1 + 4 + 3 architecture comprising a prime core at 2.8 GHz, four performance cores at 2.6 GHz, and three efficiency cores at 1.9 GHz. Likewise, the device comes with a starting RAM of 8 GB 128 GB, and 256 GB of native storage. Xiaomi has skipped 6 GB of basic RAM for this tablet series. The Pad 7 Pro features Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.
Speaking of other amenities, Pad 7 ships with HyperOS 2 based on Android 15 which brings improved user interface and elevated user experience.
Camera
In terms of the camera, the Xiaomi Pad 7 comes with a single 13 MP main camera on the back and an 8 MP selfie shooter on the front. The back camera can record 4K videos at 30fps while the front camera’s video record is available at FHD at up to 30fps.
For the sake of comparison, the Pro model comes with a whopping 50 MP camera on the back and a 32 MP selfie camera.
Battery and Connectivity
Xiaomi Pad 7 uses a decently sized 8,850mAh battery pack with a 45W wired fast-charging capacity. The company claims that the tablet can be charged from 0 to 100% in 1 hour 20 minutes. Not the fastest but still very convenient. Pad 6 has an 8,840mAh battery cell with 33W fast-charging support. So, here, it’s another improvement. Besides, the device supports WiFi 6e connectivity, Bluetooth 5.4, and USB Type-C 3.2. But there is no 3.5mm headphone jack and NFC. Similarly, the tablet doesn’t support cellular connectivity but the WiFi 6e gives great data speed over the currently popular WiFi 5.

Our Initial Verdict
It’s certain that Xiaomi Nepal will launch Pad 7 in Nepal and will be competitive against other midrange tablets such as Galaxy Tab A9 and Lenovo Tab M10 (2nd Generation). The tablet is commendable for its compact specifications such as a large display, 3.2K display, and powerful processor meaning that it can be used not just for video and social network browsing but comfortably for work as well. The shortcoming could be its lack of cellular support but that’s just about it. And that has to do with keeping its price affordable. So, let’s wait till Xiaomi launches Pad 7 in Nepal.
