Today Samsung’s latest Phablet named as Note 7 (skipping the version 6, as expected) is released at an unpacked event in New York. Most of the specifications and looks are found to be exactly similar to their popular smartphone Samsung S7 Edge, except for the Iris scanner and USB Type C port. The iris scanner is an addition to the finger print scanner in the home button and it lets you scan your eyes for unlock which is known to be more secure than fingerprint. It is Samsung’s first device with the Iris scanning feature, that is only available with few phones and laptops. The iris scanning feature can also be used to lock and open apps, photos, notes and the secure folder containing secret files. It is also the first Samsung device with USB type C charging, a major feature missing in Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. Most of the rumors comes true for the phablet (read more of the roundup here).
The latest Note series phablet contains Samsung’s S pen active stylus which is water resistant, more sensitive and accurate. It even lets you make a GIF from a video through Smart select in the pen stylus. The update software for Note 7 looks more better and will be available to S7 and S7 edge a lil’ later. The current software is of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is known to be upgraded to Android 7.0 Naugat in the future but the exact time frame is not known now.
There are three colors available for the Phablet: black, silver and blue coral, right now in US whereas there will be a gold version in international markets. The phablet screen is 5.7 inch with Super AMOLED, dual curved display having quad HD resolution. It’s the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor in US and Exynos processor elsewhere, that is powering the phone. RAM size is of 4 GB and the camera is exactly the same as S7 Edge with 12 MP f 1.7 OIS camera. Like S7, the phablet is water resistant and has slot for micro SD memory card but the internal storage is bumped to 64 GB and similarly the battery juice is increased to 3500 mAh.
The price of the Note 7 comes at around 850 USD in US ( which translates to 91,000 Nepali Rupees). The availability of the phone will be made soon as the Integrated Mobility Solution (IMS), the official distributor of Samsung phones in Nepal, releases latest phone within some days after the international release. We can expect it to get pre orders only after the international availability which is after August 19.
