The selection committee headed by MOIC secretary has short listed 6 candidates out of the 13 applications for the open competition to the head of Nepal Telecom, the government owned no. 1 company. Among those six candidates, 5 of them are from inside the Nepal Telecom senior Management and 1 from out side the company.

Though it was in July that the vacancy was announced and in August that 13 have applied, there was no any works regarding the evaluation of the applications since last week, due to the change in the government. Within that time, the tenure of former MD Mr. Buddhi Prasad Acharya has been completed and it is now led by Mr. Surya Bhakta Pokharal as For MD, being the senior most Deputy Managing Director.

Five candidates shortlisted from Nepal Telecom include Chief Technical Offier (CTO) Mrs. Kamini Raj Bhandari, Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) Mr. Rabindra Jha, Managers MatukAnanda Baidhya, Guna Keshari Pradhan and Sunil Kumar Pokharel. Former MD Mr. Buddhi Prasad Acharya has not been shortlisted, who was rumored to be potential candidate for NT MD. From outside, Mr. Madan Kharel who is the former Managing Director of Nepal Airlines Corporation is also among the shortlisted.

Now the most potential candidates for Nepal Telecom MD seems to be CTO MRs. Kamini Raj Bhandari and CHRO Mr. Rabindra Jha, who are the senior most technical director in the company. It would not be surprise if other managers inside the company gets selected and appointed as it has happened with many other government entities.
