State-backed telecom giant Nepal Telecom (Ntc) has begun its 4G service in Sinja Gaunpalika -4 (Rural Municipality) of Jumla district. The service brings the telco’s high-speed and reliable fourth-generation mobile broadband internet to the remote area of the hilly district in Karnali province.
The network expansion comes as part of Ntc’s plans for rural service expansion. The company has stressed its fast service expansion to remote areas across Nepal over commercial growth. With the latest 4G launch in the remote area, the people inside Sinja Rural Municipality will have fast mobile internet at affordable cost from the largest telecom operator in the country.
To establish 4G, a tower has been set up in ward no. 4 of the village ensuring full coverage for the locals. There are 6 wards in the Sinja Rural Municipality. At the moment, 4G has become fully operational in wards – 1, 2, 3, and 4. Ward no. 5 and 6 which lie across the hill also get the signals as per the reports.
In addition, remote areas of Kanaksundari, and Hima Rural Municipalities in Sinja are also getting services from the tower.

Sinja-4 Rural Municipality Chairperson Purna Prasad Dhital says that Ntc’s newly-launched 4G service has benefitted over 10,000 people in the village.
“The advanced mobile network has not just helped the locals, but also the local government with high-speed internet and telephone service,” he added. It has helped the local body to run training, and seminars, fill out online forms, online classes, etc.
“We expect that 4G expansion will improve service delivery of education, health, social services, and entertainment through audio-visual and electronic media,” the chairperson Dhital said.
Prior to this, the areas only had a 2G network run by solar power, therefore, the connectivity option and quality were both limited. Check out: The State of 4G Speed in Nepal and its Influencing Factors
