Huawei hosted its latest edition of the Huawei Connect 2022 in Kathmandu, Nepal for the 3rd time. It’s the company’s annual industry event for the growth of the global ICT industry.
This year, the flagship event took place with the theme “Unleash Digital”. The event drew in over 400 ICT industry leaders, experts, and partners from around the country. It offered the participants an opportunity to explore how to effectively unleash digital productivity, promote the digital economy, and build up stronger digital ecosystems.
On the occasion, Huawei shared its efforts to advance digital development across various industries.
To kick off the event, Nicholas Ma, President of Huawei Asia Pacific Enterprise Business Group, delivered the opening remarks. He shared insights into the regional digital transformation progress outlining three ways that Huawei and its eco-partners can support Nepal in the digital economy. His speech also included ideas on supporting Neal for its digital infrastructure, industrial applications, and digital talent.
Mr. Ma said, “Nepal has made notable progress under the Digital Nepal Framework, Huawei will continue to leverage its global and regional innovation capabilities to support Nepal with cloud and data center infrastructure in addition to the accessible, affordable and inclusive digital connectivity, accelerating digital transformation for different verticals and building local ICT ecosystem, in Nepal, for Nepal.”

NTA Secretary Baikuntha Aryal speaks on the occasion of Huawei Connect 2022 Nepal
Similarly, Dr. Baikuntha Aryal, MoCIT Secretary shared his ideas on Nepal’s ambition for digital growth. He said, “Our objective is to develop and expand the information & communication sector up to the rural level in the form of infrastructure for social and economic development through widespread participation of the private sector as well with an emphasis on the dissemination of information and communication technology. We must ensure that our country and citizens are not left behind in terms of ICT. I would like to thank Huawei for arranging such a conference for the 3rd time where we can get many new knowledge & ideas to unleash digital in Nepal”
Economic and Commercial Counsellor of The Embassy of China in Nepal Mr. Xie Yu also offered his views. He said, “Age-old and deep-rooted, the China-Nepal relations have long been friendly and cordial. For Sure, Huawei is one of the most innovative international tech companies from China and it is leading the ICT industry of the world. I’m sure Huawei Connect will literally connect many things and unleash a digital Nepal.”

Nepal yearning to be a digital economy
Mr. Purushottam Khanal, Chairman of Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) was also among the attendees at the event. He said, “The Nepal Government has emphasized the importance of transforming Nepal into a Digital Economy by launching a DIGITAL NEPAL FRAMEWORK. This Huawei connect congress will play a significant role in this regard by introducing future tech trends and solutions before us.”
Similarly, Mr. Hemraj Dhakal, MD of IME and Chairman of Dish Home appreciated Huawei for its role in steering digital transformation. Huawei, has likewise, actively developed transformation and created a solid foundation for the future.
“As one of largest Digital Economy Countries in South Asia, Nepal has great Potential for National Digital Transformation. Going digital is clearly the right choice. We will keep supporting Nepal’s digitalization and sustainable development efforts, and building out the industry ecosystem & continue to invest in the sector’s digitization, sustainable development, and ecosystem expansion.” said William Zhang, CEO of Huawei Nepal Office.
At the event, Huawei reiterated its commitment to open collaboration and shared success. It then called for government and enterprises to collaborate more closely to develop local digital ecosystems.

It features 5 keynote sessions, a panel discussion on ‘Next Generation Data Center to Unleash Digital Nepal’, content sharing from partners including DishHome, Prixa Technologies, Genese Solutions, and Ncell, as well as multiple demos.
The event dives into the challenges that governments and enterprises face in the digital transformation journey, Huawei’s advancements in digital infrastructure, as well as the company’s latest cloud services and ecosystem partner solutions.
