In just three months after rolling out VoLTE service, Ncell has amassed 50 thousand users to its voice service. The operator had launched the 4G-based voice service for its users which has already found a huge number of early adopters. The company’s enterprise solution manager Sushil Bista shared.
VoLTE or Voice over LTE is a cellular technology that provides HD voice over 4G. Another key benefit of the technology is that it also allows data during calls. Ncell launched its VoLTE service back in September after launching its beta for months.
Ncell’s competitor Nepal Telecom has already launched its VoLTE option for its customers. Together with Ncell, it has become a popular feature among smartphone owners in Nepal. The ecosystem of VoLTE is growing in Nepal but at the same time, 5G talks have also gathered momentum.
VoLTE is compatible only with 4G SIM cards and smartphones and requires activation. Further, smartphone makers also need to roll out a software patch to render devices compatible with VoLTE.
So far, Ncell VoLTE is available for users of select models of Samsung, Vivo, OnePlus, ZTE, Huawei, etc. smartphone brands. But the operator is in talks with the phone makers to increase the number of supported devices. So far, Ncell’s VoLTE is available for Android platforms only. The company is likely to add support on iPhones after March 2023.

Besides, HD voice and data use, the innovative feature also makes call setup faster and makes calls less noisy.
Ncell users can activate VoLTE on their compatible smartphones by dialing *17201# and also receive a promotional talk time offer.
