Nepal Network Operators Group (NPNOG) is organizing a five-day workshop called NPNOG8 in Kathmandu from Ashar 3 to 8 in Kathmandu. The six-day running event will take place at Royal Singhi Hotel, and Aloft Hotel.
The event titled npNOG-8 will consist of a 5-day workshop and a conference. The event focuses on networking, fiber optics, and IPv6, etc.
The training will be conducted in two thematic areas by business experts who are professionals in networking, fiber optics, and other technologies.
Internet Exchange Nepal (NPIX) and Nepal Network Operators Group (NP NOG) will conduct the workshop jointly. The workshop includes discussions on three main topics- network security, optical fiber network and infrastructure, and BGP and IPv6 deployment.
Network Security workshop sheds light on how to protect end-users, applications, and infrastructures. This workshop aims to examine core concepts, protocols, policies, and practices to protect data from possible attacks. It is basically focused on managers, operators, engineers, and policymakers who are interested in network security. Likewise, the Fiber and Infrastructure include workshops on fiber optic concepts, fiber connectors, distribution networks, etc.
The BGP and IPv6 deployment workshop focuses on the fundamentals of internet routing, BGP fundamentals, and day-to-day network operations. It will help participants understand IPv6 and how to deploy it in a network. It is targeted at technical staff who are involved in internet technology standards, local and national network infrastructure planning, deployment, etc.

NPNOG event in Kathmandu 2080
The concluding day of the event will have a conference. On this day, IT experts will present their papers in the program. Over 150 people working in the ICT field will participate in the training program.
NPIX Managing Director Rupesh Bhakta Shrestha expressed his delight at the event. He said that the program will allow the participants to share their knowledge with others in the IT field. “In the workshop, business experts will provide training as a volunteer,” Shrestha said while talking about the program.
Chairman of NP NOG Samit Jan shared similar enthusiasm. He stated, “We have organized one in Kathmandu and another outside Kathmandu.” Earlier, he said that the organization conducts two programs a year.
He also expressed commitment to promoting professional IT human resources for the country.

How to participate in the NPNOG 8 event of 2080?
To participate in the NPNOG 8 program, you first need to register which you can do from here. For participation in both workshop and conference, you will be charged Rs 20,000. For foreign nationals, they will have to pay $200 for the participation fee.
There is also an option for just applying for the workshop. To register for the workshop, you need to pay Rs 17,000. Similarly, for foreigners, the fee is fixed at $150. The conference registration only costs Rs 5,000 for Nepalese and for foreigners $50.
