Recently, I got my hands on the Redmi Buds 4 which is the big brother of Redmi Buds 3 Lite and Redmi Buds 4 Lite. During its launch in Nepalese, it was marketed as Xiaomi’s first affordable Earbuds with ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) Support. It’s been a week since I’ve been using the buds as my daily on-the-go driver. So, let me share my experience with you all and kickstart the Redmi Bud 4 Review.
Disclaimer: The review is completely based on my personal experience with the Redmi Buds 4. Also, the article is not sponsored in any way.
What’s In The Box?
- Charging Case/ Buds
- Manual
- Type-C to USB Cable
- Two Extra Pairs of Silicone tips
Let’s start with the unboxing itself. The packaging is a minimalistic one with White as the box’s primary color. Inside, you get two extra pairs of Silicone Ear tips each in a different size. Nevertheless, there’s a Type C to Type C cable, the Buds itself as well as a manual that feels small yet very thick. Except for the manual, everything is nicely sealed with plastic that removes all the dust. Moreover, the Silicone Tips and Type-C to Type-C cable both feel high quality.

Buds and Case Design
The case boasts an Oval-shaped design with rounded edges. Moreover, the whole is very milky-white and glossy. I’ll call it a premium touch. Plus, the rounded edges and the oval shape make the case go inside the pocket very smoothly. On the front, there’s a Single LED Indicator while Xiaomi’s Label sticker and a Button at the back. Below there’s a USB Type-C Port. The buds open from the top side. Opening and closing the case feels very satisfying as it makes the “Clank” sound every earbuds lover loves.
Coming to the earbuds itself now, the buds are fully in-ear type built with no stem. The rear part of the buds is glossy similar to the case finish while the other part is matte white. The silicone tip on the buds feels very premium and the fit of the earbuds on the ear is airtight. While on-ear, no matter how much I shook my head, the earbuds never fell off. The same does for my Morning Jogging sessions.
However, during my late-night Netflix sessions, the earbuds did feel a bit uncomfortable after an hour or so and the uncomfortable level just kept rising over time. Overall, the design of the case and buds are top tier with their glossy white finish, smooth feeling as well as an aesthetically pleasing vibe.
Sound Quality & ANC
No matter how good the design, battery life, or price tag, this is what matters the most on any earbuds; Sound Quality. Here, Xiaomi has just justified its Price tag of Rs. 6,999 when it comes to the Sound Quality of the earbuds. The bass is not heavy as inexpensive earbuds and the Sound Clarity is far better than that of budget earbuds that come under Rs. 5,000 of the price tag. Thus, it is balanced as it should be.
For people who love Sound Clarity and Vocals in their music, it’s for them. For every bass-heavy lover, they will want to play a bit with the equalizer and everything will be good. The 10mm Dynamic Driver combined with Xiaomi Acoustic Lab’s exact delivery of what it advertised, “Clear Detailed Sound with Good Response“.
Talking about the ANC (Active Noise Cancellation), that is one of the highlights of these earbuds. It was very okay-ish. For example, I used it during my late-night and I heard the dogs barking, however, it all minimized when I turned on the ANC and played music as well. However, getting ANC feature in a Rs. 6999 price-tagged earbuds is a rare feature to witness and we should feel lucky to have one in this one.

Xiaomi Earbuds App & Other Features
The Buds support the Xiaomi Earbuds App from where you can simply manage everything about your earbuds. You can easily toggle between ANC and its Transparency Level. Finding your earphone is a great feature if you are just like, i.e. the one who forgets every small thing when on the move. On the Gestures Tab, you can totally customize the way you like the Gesture Controls, one of the best features all earbuds should have. Plus, on the Additional Settings tab, you can toggle In-ear detection and turn settings on like Take Calls Automatically.
Well, talking about Gesture Controls, I never had any issue with it. I customized it the way my previous earbuds were and I was very fluent with it. The response is very responsive and accurate. I always toggled between ANC, changed songs during my Morning Jogging sessions as well as received and canceled calls on my daily work. Never, I found an issue when it came to Gesture control and Xiaomi Earbuds App.
Battery & Connectivity
This department is where the earbuds impressed me the most. Never I faced battery problems even when I used it frequently daily. The company advertised it as having “30 Hours Long Battery Life”, well I never used it straight for 30 hrs but also it performed always from my Morning Jogging sessions to my Mid-day work music break to night Netflix Series binge like a pro. As a normal user, I recommend earbuds to all those who look for earbuds with long battery life. Also, on a week, I only charged the case twice. The 100mAh battery on Earbuds and 450mAh on Case are up to their mark.
When it came to connectivity, I was never disturbed. Whether playing music, watching YouTube videos, or Watching Netflix, I never felt any issue with connectivity. Also, I played games with the earbuds on and the latency was very low. Bluetooth 5.2 stands tall and provides the best connectivity. But there were only issues sometimes when I was on Call, I could hear my friends speak clearly but a few times, they wanted me to repeat what I said. Except this, everything is top-notch and top-tier.
The Redmi Buds 4 Review Final Verdict
Bearing a price tag of Rs. 6999, many people will hesitate to pay the sum because there are hundreds of other cheaper options from different companies. However, I will tell you this, such earbuds provide the design, finish, sound quality, battery life and connectivity of this earbuds pack. You pay Rs. 6999 but it will pay off. Furthermore, for people who love long battery life in earbuds, it’s a pure blessing for them bestowed straight from the heavens itself.
