Nepal Telecom, the biggest telecom operator in Nepal has urged the people to only follow its official website and social media page. The company has asked to get the information about the operator through its official social media sites and page. As Fake News and Scams are being circulated in the name of Nepal Telecom, the company alerts people to be aware of the same and prevent hack or worst events.

The company posted the following on its official Facebook page. They appealed to the users to get news and information regarding the operator from official channels like Website and social media Page.
Reason For the Action
The reason for the company’s action is due to the increasing cases of misuse of Nepal telecom’s name and spreading fake news, information. The following misleading content has been shared on social media by misusing the name of the company.
There was a phishing post in the name of Nepal Telecom (Nepal Tlecom) stating that the company had launched a competition for the iPhone 12. The users will be able to win the smartphone by registering for it in the link. It asked for the personal info of the user and login to their site. But it is all fake and operated just with ill intentions to hack your account. So, please refrain from giving your personal information to those profiles or sites.

In the past, Ncell also faced similar kinds of phishing and scam issues. So, at that time the company also openly informed its customers about the problem. They also asked them not to share their official information to prevent hacking and fraud.
It is a very commendable effort from Nepal Telecom to inform its customers to alert the people about the misleading activity from a mischievous individual or group.
Due to the pandemic, people are more active on the internet and there are more chances for them to fall victim to these scams. To be safe, you must only follow the official pages and social media sites of the related company and never give away detailed information about yourself to such fake profiles.
