Nepal Telecom (NTC) has brought its advanced mobile network 4G to Namdok, around the Korala Border area in the upper Mustang district which lies near Tibet. The broadband service will connect households in remote areas with high-speed internet and voice services.
With 4G service arriving in Namdok in the Himalayan region, the telco says that almost all the areas around the Korala border have been connected with the same network.
Ntc has kept its ground running with its 4G expansion in remote areas including the northern part. Already, many areas in Upper Mustang have been connected with 4G. In 2078, the government-backed operator launched the 4G LTE network in Lomanthang, Charang, Syangboche, etc.
Likewise, Ntc has also set up a 4G tower in Ghami, Loghekar Damodarkunda Gaunpalika (Rural Municipality) ward no. 2. People within the coverage can now leverage the network’s high-speed internet and voice through VoLTE.
The company plans to upgrade its legacy mobile networks in Samar, Surkhang, Tetang, and Shanta to 4G in the near future. Ntc has also started 4G in Marfa and Khinga in Mustang. In recent years, Ntc has stressed the launch of fourth-generation cellular service in remote and sparsely populated areas giving more priority to service than profit.

Ntc accelerates its 4G expansion
Ntc has been very active in its mobile service expansion, especially for its 4G service with an aim to bridge the digital divide. The operator has shared that so far it has connected 739 local bodies out of 753. The expects to achieve full coverage at its earlier as it prepares for the 5G trial on Magh 22.
Ntc is collaborating with ZTE and China Communication Services International (CCSI) for 4G expansion. So far, 98% of 4G expansion work has been completed. Find details on Ntc 4G coverage expansion and more.
Backed by its fast service upgrade and expansion around the country, the company has surpassed 1 crore of 4G users. As per the Nepal Telecommunication Authority (Nta), the telco has 1 crore, 15 lakhs, 50 thousand, 181 subscribers till Ashwin, 2079.
