Qualcomm has launched Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset which will be used for various mid-range smartphones in 2025 and later. According to the company, the new chipset comes with an 11% improvement in performance, 29% in GPU, and 12% in energy efficiency over its predecessor.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 Mobile Platform provides flagship-like performance for budget smartphones. For gaming to multi-tasking, and AI features, the chipset brings several new-generation improvements. It’s a 4nm chipset and will be a solid option for smartphone makers to use this chip for better performance and battery optimization.
Deepu John, Senior Director of Product Management at Qualcomm, highlighted the platform’s importance, stating: “Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 will drive the next leap forward for smartphones in the mid-tier thanks to significant advancements in AI, gaming, and photography. This platform brings a new level of performance and power efficiency for users to enjoy virtually anywhere.”

Performance: Bigger and Better
Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 has Qualcomm’s Kryo CPU which offers 11% higher performance than its predecessor. The graphics unit, Adreno gets 29% better graphics enhancement. It means the phones that use this chipset will have more power for gaming while multi-tasking, scrolling, and using heavy apps will also get smoother.
The chipset is 12% better energy efficient. So, users will get more battery life out of their smartphones.
Gaming: More Immersive
The chipset makes gaming more enjoyable and immersive. The SoC comes with Game Super Resolution feature which upscales the graphics to 4K resolution. As a result, games’ content looks sharper and more vibrant without having an effect on the battery.
Likewise, the better Adreno Frame Motion Engine doubles frame rates for even smoother gameplay. The HDR Fast Blend technology renders action-heavy gaming scenes twice as fast.

Better camera performance
The 4nm build processor comes with Qualcomm Spectra Triple ISP. It activates simultaneous photo and video capturing capacity. With this chipset inside, smartphone cameras will support up to 200 MP sensors, 4K HDR video recording, and Snapdragon Low-Light Vision (LLV).

For the first time, Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, a Snapdragon 6 Series SoC has got on-device support. The Hexagon NPU on this silicon supports INT4 which means AI gets faster, better, and efficient.
The AI provides better virtual photography features, noise reduction during calls, and can also summarize content. It also provides a better user experience with virtual assistants such as Gemini.
