Xiaomi 14T Overview
Design and Display
Xiaomi 14T is slightly different from its predecessor Xiaomi 13T. It is flat and straightforward. But still, the back gets Xiaomi text and standard certification stuff. The frames are made of plastic but they are die-cast aluminum. So, they provide classy looks to the phone. Likewise, the camera module looks more square. It houses three cameras and an LED flash. The device has IP68 level protection from water and dust. It weighs up to 195 grams which makes it lighter by 2 grams from its predecessor.
There are some big upgrades in the display department. It has the same 6.67-inch AMOLED screen as in the Xiaomi 13T. But this new phone comes with a 144Hz refresh rate and the screen boasts 4,000 nits of peak brightness. This makes it one of the brightest smartphone screens out there. OnePlus 13 is just ahead with 4500 nits. The screen features 1.5K 1220 x 2712 pixels and is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Performance and Storage
Xiaomi 14T is powered by MediaTek’s new chipset- Dimensity 8300 Ultra which is the successor of Dimensity 8200 Ultra. This 4nm processor is powerful for everyday tasks to running demanding apps. Plus, it has a Mali G615 GPU for graphics.
In terms of other resources, Xiaomi has launched this phone with 12 and 16 GB of RAM and 256 and 512 GB of storage. Xiaomi Nepal should also bring the phone in 12/256 GB and 16/512 GB specifications. But we have to wait for updates on this one.
Camera
On the surface, the Xiaomi 14T shares similar camera specs with the one it is succeeding- the Xiaomi 13T. It has a 50 MP wide camera (Leica), a 50 MP telephoto unit with 2x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultrawide camera. But there are some improvements underneath.
Noticeably, the main camera’s aperture is f/1.7 so it lets in more light which should result in better photography in low light. The lens is also 23mm so, you geta slightly wider field of view. If you want to capture scenic photos, it is better. The back camera can shoot up to 4K at 60 fps.
Bigger change is on the front. Xiaomi now provides a 32 MP selfie camera which comes with improved aperture as well. It can also record 4K videos at 30fps.
Battery and Charging
The phone comes with a Li-Po 5,000mAh battery and a 67W fast charging capacity. Xiaomi claims that the fast charger can charge the phone from 0-100% in 45 minutes. The battery should last more than a day easily in low to moderate use.
Software and Additional Features
The phone gets Android 14 treatment with HyperOS OS on top. This brings an intuitive and fresh user interface, something new if you are coming from the MIUI ROM. It has an under-display fingerprint sensor for security. For connectivity, there is WiFi 6e support and Bluetooth 5.4. It’s got a USB Type-C 2.0 port for file transfer and charging. Unlike many other eSIM smartphones, it allows two active eSIM operation. The device connects to up to 5G for cellular services.

Our Verdict
Xiaomi 14T is a powerful phone and will come at a competitive price. That is complemented by the features it offers. Most notably, it boasts a stunning display with 4500 nits of peak brightness, a 144 Hz refresh rate, and an AMOLED technology. Equally, the Dimensity 8300 SoC should offer punchy performance for everyday life and compelling tasks. Might I also include dual eSIM support which will give users another reason to choose it.
The phone is an upper end midrange phone but can also compete with the flagship phones in Nepal for some of its specs. But if you want another Xiaomi phone at a moderate cost, consider the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus 5G.
