All these devices come with improved Actua Display, Tensor G4 chipset, and the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) among others.
Google Pixel 9 series is seen with great attention in Nepal as well for its distinct Android profile. The phones will compete with the iPhone 16 series launching later in 2024. Here in this post, we take a look at their much-anticipated specs, features, and expected price in Nepal.
Google Pixel 9 series overview
The Google Pixel 9 series consists of 4 devices one vanilla version, two Pro models, and a Fold. All the Pixel 9 series are powered by Android 14 and powered by Google Tensor G4 chipset. We also see some major improvements on the phones from its predecessor Pixel 8 series.
According to the company, the standard phone Pixel 9 is now 35% brighter than the previous Pixel 8 phone. Likewise, the “Pro” models’ cameras allow up to 20x Super Res Zoom making photography more versatile. And let’s not forget that Google has integrated the power of Gemini AI in these phones to make them powerful and competitive in today’s times of generative AI on devices.
Here are all the details, specifications, and expected price of Google Pixel 9 standard and “Pro” variants in Nepal.
Design and Display
All the Pixel 9 smartphones rock signature design- thin bezels, stylish looks, big and bold displays, and all. However, there are some trendy changes. This time, Google has opted for flat sides for the Pixel 9 phones. We understand that curvy edges are less of a trend among manufacturers.
Likewise, the raised camera bar retains the same awe, however, it stretches further across the devices. The front and back are made of the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 while the frames are composed of aluminum. On the back, we see a “G” etched in the center. Overall, the Pixel 9 phones reiterate its iconic design profile and give it a modern tweak.
The Pixel 9, and Pixel 9 Pro sport a 6.3-inch OLED display. The senior variant Pixel 9 Pro XL features a larger display of 6.8 inches. Particularly, the Pixel 9 model has become 35% brighter but expect excellent visuals across all models. Similarly, all devices feature a similar adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz. Additionally, the Pixel 9 devices are backed by Actua technology. According to Google, the technology helps display maintain its brightness levels without compromising colors. That means even at high brightness, the visuals will remain true to their original state.

Chipset
All Pixel 9 smartphones are powered by Google’s Tensor G4 chipset. It is a 4nm build system on a chip (SoC). It should provide ample power for multi-tasking to high-setting gaming as well as snappy performance on models.
In terms of RAM and memory, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro feature 16 GB RAM and come in 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB internal storage options. The Pixel 9 standard model comes with 12 GB RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB of storage options.
Pixel 9 devices also feature satellite SOS emergency services. By using it, users can contact their emergency number in worst-case scenarios that can save lives. The feature works without a cellular tower so in areas that have no mobile networks, the feature can be potentially life-saving.
Google has brought these phones with Android 14 OS with up to 7 major upgrades in subsequent years. These are also the first phones to get the Android 15 treat upon its launch.
Camera
In terms of the camera, the Pixel 9 includes a dual-camera configuration with a 50 MP wide and a 48 MP ultrawide camera with macro focus. For selfies, it’s got a 10.5 MP shooter and autofocus for the first time.
Similarly, the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL feature a triple-camera setup comprising a 50 MP wide, 48 MP ultrawide, and 48 MP telephoto lens with 5x zoom. These two are equipped with a 42 MP selfie shooter each on the front which also comes with autofocus. There are some improvements on the software front too. You get a new UI for Night Sight, AI-powered Video Boost on the pro models to scale up the videos to 8K resolution, etc.
Battery and others
In terms of the battery, the Pixel 9 Pro XL gets a 5060mAh battery and 37W wired fast charging. Similarly, it comes with 23W wireless and reverse charging compatibility too. Likewise, the Pixel 9 Pro model features a 4700mAh battery with 27W wired fast charging and 12W wireless charging as well as reverse wireless charging support.
Similarly, the standard model Pixel 9 is given a 4700mAh battery with 27W wired fast charging, 15W wireless charging, and a reverse charging feature. Google says that all these Pixel 9 series phones provide 24 hours of battery life upon a full charge.
All the Pixel 9 phones also support WiFi 7 tri-band as well as 5G connectivity. So, there’s a whole lot of potential for extremely fast internet connectivity services.

Pixel 9 brings improved AI experiences
The Tensor G4 chipset is more optimized to strengthen the AI so the features are likely to provide high value to the users. For e.g., there are much improved Google Notes, customized weather reports, summaries, Clear Calling, and full transcripts of your phone calls, etc. More importantly, you get a magic eraser, and other key features to perfect your shot with cameras, including other features with AI enhancements.
One AI feature that stands out is “Add me” which allows you to blend two photos so that a photographer can add self to a group photo. You take one group photo, leaving some space on the side to add another person, and then ask another person to take another photo to put yourself in that space. The stitching of two photos with AI will create a seamless group photo, leaving no one behind.

Our verdict
Google Pixel 9 series is Google’s latest treat for its users who want a refreshing and pure Android smartphone experience. But these phones are also very much about the hardware capacities from the Tensor G4 chipset to cameras with 5x zoom, up to 16 GB RAM, WiFi 7, etc. More particularly, the back design with the iconic camera bar remains a major draw to Pixel phones and is no exception here either.
Besides, you also get AI features on these devices. So, a default pick if you are waiting on a Pixel series phone. But sadly, there is no official channel for Google to sell these phones in Nepal and you have to look for these in select stores.
