With the company’s homegrown Gemini AI powered by the new-generation Tensor G4 chipset, the devices offer plenty of functions and usability for users that enhance experience in photography, search, generative AI, text-to-image, etc.
Google launched its Pixel 9 series phones- Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold in August 2024. These phones compete with the Samsung Galaxy S24 series and the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro Max series at both hardware and software levels. Gemini Live
The Gemini Live is an advanced AI feature on Pixel 9 phones that serves you with responses to your queries in a conversation-like manner. It lets you render your imagination into life with easy prompts. More excitedly, it lets you easily change styles, and use stickers, and you get lots of on-device editing. You can share your text-to-image creatives with your family and friends via messages.

Edit photos
Continuing with image-related AI features, there’s one called Reimagine feature which lets you select parts of an image and use your text to create a new image for you. You can use the feature to create your own wallpapers. It’s fun and creative both. Likewise, you can use the Reframe tool to widen the canvas of an image or crop it more stylistically.
Google already had many image editing features but has improved and added more with the recent Tensor G4 SoC. For eg, Magic Editor lets you move or resize an object with just a pinch in your image. It lets you even change the background of the photo with “Contextual Presets”. Likewise, there’s Magic Eraser that lets you smartly remove unwanted objects from your image. The Add Me feature uses Augmented Reality (AR) and AI to ensure that you never miss out on your group photos. Besides these, you get up to 5x telephoto and Video Boost on Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL devices.

The Pixel Screenshots app uses AI to derive information from the images you have saved (screenshots). It’s useful when you have shot photos of WiFi, code, password, or even door lock combinations, you can have Gemini to search for screenshots, and that gives you the information you need.
Custom weather reports
The Pixel Weather app uses AI to bring you even more accurate and effective weather reporting on Pixel 9 phones. You get a forecast of exactly when rain is starting and will stop. Now, AI helps you create a list of things to do or reminders on the Google Keep app, Google’s note app. Compared to traditional hand-written notes, Gemini helps you create lists such as what you will buy or your coming trip, or wish lists. Call Notes
Pixel 9 phones come with a feature called Call Notes which stores a summary of your phone call right after one’s complete. So, if you want to know or recall any particular detail such as a phone number, address, or date, you can turn on Call Notes and the transcript will be available in the call log. It only works if your call is more than 30 seconds and is only available in select region, countries or territories for now.
Call Notes is an on-device feature and once activated, the other person in the call also gets notified about it.

How to buy in Nepal?
Google doesn’t officially launch Pixel phones in Nepal. That means you can only count on stores in select cities to make the Pixel 9 phones available for purchase. In the next few weeks, they shall be available too, but its unofficial and grey only. Since MDMS is not strict in Nepal these days, you can use such phones without any problem for now but yet we do not encourage it.
In terms of pricing, the Pixel 9 standard model starts at USD 799 while the Pro XL lineup costs USD 1099. The Pro Fold might cost USD 1799 as of global pricing. As the pixel phones are not officially available in Nepal, you can add some more margin on top of the converted price as the estimates, and the prices will likely vary to some extent.
